Commuting around the city would make anyone hungry, thankfully LRT-1 has brought back kiosks offering food and services in select stations.
THE Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) has partnered with a market operator to open new food kiosks in select stations, perfect for your next food trip!
Pre-pandemic, train stations would be bustling with food kiosks to satisfy such cravings but with the pandemic forcing small businesses to close especially those in the food sector that can’t offer delivery services.
Thankfully, the Light Rail Manila Corporation partnered with StrEat Market, one of the biggest Al Fresco Market operators in Manila to provide small businesses to set up a physical store in three LRT-1 stations.
As the locations of the kiosks are located in an open-air space of the station, customers can choose to eat on the spot, physically distanced from others, or to bring their purchases to go!
Food selections include Filipino fried favorites, tasty Japanese food, popular Korean food, bread, pastries, and fruit juices.
Also open are kiosks for cellphone repair, clothes, phone accessories, and beauty items.
Visit them at the following LRT-1 stations:
●Baclaran
●Blumentritt
●Balintawak
According to LRMC, the stalls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm, daily and until April 30, 2022.
Other than providing opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, LRMC aims to improve the commuting experience of LRT passengers, as the city eases into Alert Level 2.
“Bring your family or friends for a one-stop-shop to the stations for endless food possibilities that will surely satisfy your cravings,” LRMC’s post read.
However, not all kiosks under the StrEat Market partnership will be able to accept Beep card payments and loading services that LRMC launched with other merchants last year.
