Community pantries that have been sprouting everywhere are clear indications that there are still people who are willing to help others in these challenging times.

THE modern-day Bayanihan spirit of Filipinos in the form of community pantries is sweeping the country as they reportedly already reached the far-flung areas that include the cities of Ormoc and Tacloban in Eastern Visayas.

The community pantries which provide fresh produce and meat and fish products for free have been sprouting like mushrooms in various parts of the country after they were initially put up in Maginhawa Street in Quezon City.

One of the latest to spring up was in Lopez Jaena Street, Ormoc City which was open to the public for free but encourage them to only get what they need.

These community pantries serve as a reminder that there is still faith in humanity as it shows the giving heart of people in time of crisis when resources are scarce.

This also shows that despite the circumstances, there are still people who doesn’t let greed take over and are willing to help others who are in need.
