Bahandi Food and Fashion Fair comes back after pandemic -induced hiatus

This year’s four-day Bahandi Food and Fashion Fair will be held at Robinson’s Place Tacloban, after more than a year of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

AFTER being restricted for over a year by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bahandi Food and Fashion Fair has made a physical comeback this year.

The last Bahandi Trade Fair was held in October 2019.

“Bahandi” is the local term for wealth.

The regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has said it was impossible to conduct any physical tradesin 2020 without exposing their micro and small entrepreneurs to the risks of being infected by the virus.

In the last physical trade at SM Megamall, the producer-exhibitors earned a whooping P35 million in sales, which exceeded their initial target.

This year’s four-day trade fair, to start from Thursday to Sunday, will be held at Robinson’s Place Tacloban.

The event will be held every month until December of this year.

Micro, small and medium enterprises from the region will join the event.

At least 44 producer-exhibitors have already confirmed participation.

New products are expected on sale as new participants assisted through the NTF-ELCAC-related efforts will join the event.

DTI said the producers are hoping to exceed the previous sales of the Gawang Otso Trade Fair, which hit an outstanding sales mark of P1.952 million.
