Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano are youth Environment Activists working to stop the Reclamation Project at the Manila Bay, especially because it will adversely affect the livelihood of the fisherfolks. Then they disappeared one day and on social media a lot of concerned citizens asked that the government to check their possible whereabouts.
On the TV news, the AFP said that the two missing persons just took a break somewhere.
Then just a few days ago, a presscon was held with the two young environmentalists. Essentially, they said that they were abducted by military personnel (which they learned later), after thinking that they were kidnapped by a syndicate.
On September 20, the TV projected on the screen “NSC DISMAYADO SA NAGING PAHAYAG NINA CASTRO AT TAMANO.” “KARAPATAN: PAHAYAG NG 2 DINUKOT NA AKTIBISTA TOTOO.”
The question in the minds of viewers: “Who’s telling the TRUTH?” – the NSC/AFP or KARAPATAN?
Obviously, the viewers would look at the track record of both parties. The NSC is surely connected with the NFC-ELCAC, widely known as applying the Anti-Terror Law as a "legal" cover.
The public knows its indiscriminate record of “red tagging” people and organizations, resulting in countless activists, priests, IPs, farmers and critics of government anti-people policies and programs murdered or disappeared. KARAPATAN, on the other hand, has been for many years now at the forefront of watching out for government agents’ violations of human rights, promoting human rights and coordinating with the Commission on Human Rights on such violations, as may be necessary. This is not to mention that there are other organizations and individuals also actively working to protect and promote human rights.
Moreover, who is believable in the version spelled out: the youthful Jonila and Jhed or the NSC?
Who is lying and who is telling the TRUTH?
Shouldn’t DOJ, or President Bongbong himself with his mandate, under the Constitution, to “create a just and humane society,” protect the human rights of every Filipino, especially the youths of the land?
The Filipino people are waiting for Truth and Justice to reign over our country. When will the injustices in our country be resolved by President Bongbong Marcos?
