Two greedy dynastic powers at the top of the government administration today are publicly showing their fangs at each other. Keen Filipino observers are sharing their views, mostly on social media: “merong nag-unsihan sa original agreement nila,” “Unithieves yan kaya hahantong sa ganyan,” “parehong addicts iyang dalawa na iyan – addicted sa drugs AT dynastic greed for economic and political powers,” “let them be, huwag lang hahantong sa constitutional crisis,” “dasal lang tayo na maayos din ang gusot para sa bayan natin,” and many other sarcastic observations and speculations.
One common comment made at the end of their remarks: “sana lang ang presidente na naka upo dyan ay gawin ang trabaho nya, alisin ang mga problema ng milyones na hirap-na-hirap na kababayan natin, mag-dadalawang taon na sya sa poder!” Views expressed are quite understandable. Seven years of fake news, lies, killings, unsolved murders, corruption, millions of drugs still flooding the market, justice delayed to thousands of victims of injustice, long wait for a kilo of rice costing only P20 and decreasing cost also of many other basic food items, our Coast Guard or top government officials have been unable so far to prevent the bullying of China’s vessels in our West Philippine Sea, and various other pestering problems digging our country deeper into a messy situation. Worse, the House of Representatives, packed with dynastic leaders with insatiable appetite for more wealth and political power are pushing hard for Charter Change, despite a multitude of objections loudly made in public statements by various civil society organizations and, not least, by the Senate itself!
We wonder how the international community is observing the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos (who has been on a travel binge of “goodwill” meeting with various national leaders) and Vice-President Sara Duterte, who seemingly is trying to lift the country’s educational system to world-class level. A continuing issue that has plagued this administration, whether key officials believe it or not, is that the current crop of ‘elected officials’ particularly the top leaders are “illegitimate” because Comelec and Smartmatic “rigged the 2022 elections.” Is there still a chance for a fair, transparent and honest conduct of national elections, managed by the current leadership of Comelec?
At the end of the day, the Filipino people will have to make their own judgment about how to turn things around by recognizing the roots of evil, bringing about the clear bad governance they are currently suffering greatly – for too long. They are wondering, and still hoping perhaps, that their current crop of public servants can be compassionate, lawfully spending the people’s tax money, focusing on genuinely serving the people, and NOT fooling or oppressing them!
