News headlines – “ICC PROSECUTOR: ‘BATO,’ 4 PNP EXECS ARE ‘SUSPECTS’,” “SC ALLOWS ENRILE’S TRIAL FOR PLUNDER TO PROCEED.”

Other related significant news – “SEN. LEILA DE LIMA, ITINURO SI EX-PRES. RODRIGO DUTERTE NA UTAK UMANO NG MGA PATAYAN SA MADUGONG DRUG WAR NG NAKALIPAS NA ADMINISTRATION,”

“EX-PNP CHIEF OSCAR ALBAYADE, HANDANG HUMARAP SA INT’L COURT KAUGNAY NG DRUG WAR PERO UMAASA SIYANG HINDI ITO PAPASUKIN NG PILIPINAS,”

“VICE PRES. SARA DUTERTE, TINAWAG NA POLITICAL HARASSMENT ANG PAGBAWAS NG PHIL. NATIONAL POLICE SA KANYANG POLICE SECURITY DETAIL.”

Some thoughts raised by concerned citizens: “Wow, tumatapang and mainstream media, hina-highlight and mga katiwalian ng mga aroganteng may-salang mga politiko!,” “ICC suspects should simply allow themselves to face the charges, to show to the international community that they have nothing to hide and that they will be proven innocent of the charges against them,” “Sobrang yabang itong VP Sara Duterte, wala na siyang nagawa bilang Education Secretary maliban sa paghingi ng ‘confidential funds’ at pag-resign sa posisyon para lang maghintay bilang ‘spare tire’ to the president, at binalaan pa ang police chief na ‘political harassment’ ang pag-alis ng 75 na pulis-security nya, at habang napinsala ang bayan at lalong nalubog sa hirap ang milyones niyang kababayan sa hagupit ni Carina, namasyal palabas sa bansa para mag-enjoy lang!”

Critical Developments

Media’s boldness to report the facts especially about how our government institutions handle critical developments about our government officials’ performances should be their focus daily.

In fact, their special concentration on news-sharing should be how the president and the VP are doing or not doing their job. These topmost officials are most responsible for raising up the standard of living of their fellow citizens, with professional competence and real compassion, and not with arrogance and self-importance or pure selfishness.

The fact is media’s key role is to report to the general public how our government officials are performing in accordance with their oath to serve the people and to faithfully implement the Constitution and the laws of the country.

Knowledge is Power

The people are indeed hoping the mainstream media remain courageous in upholding the truth and helping in the pursuit of justice.

For knowledge is power, especially for what is GOOD.

This is especially called for at this time, because of widespread corruption committed by public officials, and even a judicial branch of government that has caught the attention of the International Court of Justice as timid or, if at all, able only to provide delayed, nay, much delayed justice. Indeed, when will the millions of marginalized and voiceless Filipinos finally enjoy decent lives under “a just and humane society”?
