Civil servants (government employees regardless of employment status) and the public are being asked by Malacanang to attend on January 28 the formal launch of Bagong Pilipinas that immediately brought me back to the formation of a Bagong Lipunan (New Society) during the Martial Law years of President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. of Martial Law, that allowed him to rule for more than two decades, until his exile to Hawaii following the People Power revolution of 1986.
The Bagong Pilipinas campaign is contained in the New Year’s message of Marcos Jr., the very same tactic that his father used in launching the Bagong Lipunan movement, which eventually became the political party of Marcos’ wife, First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos known as Kilusang Bagong Lipunan party, which breathed through difficult political periods since the exile of the First Family.
In that message, Marcos Jr. emphasized ushering the country towards change and development, which was the very same tune his father sang brainwashing the Filipinos, as if they direly needed social and national transformation, that alas only benefited his friends, family and cronies. I guess this is also the same path we are heading to, considering Marcos Jr. has been entrenching his rich billionaire friends in power.
Marcos Jr. said one of the best steps toward a New Philippines is the individual and community involvement, which could only be achieved with the Filipino people’s participation.
The Presidential Communications Office, government media and the Metro Manila Development Authority and LGUs have been chanting the same invite in traditional and social media– as if in desperation to fill up the Quirino Grandstand with people that only his presidential rival in 2022 achieved without promising incentives and other frills.
The PCO in its official Facebook page said the kick-off rally on Sunday will start at 6 p.m. to be graced by Marcos Jr. with various government officials, celebrities (artists) and other personalities attending it. Is this in preparation for the midterm elections next year or mind setting people to accept and embrace this administration. Do I see the People’s Initiative coming next and then the possible imposition of another martial rule?
The MMDA urged motorists to avoid Rizal Park, Roxas Blvd., UN Avenue and P. Burgos Avenue leading to the venue and use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience on Sunday.
Secretary Garafil said the kick-off rally will also be livestreamed. (In the time of Marcos Sr. all television stations were forced to hook up to the event).
Marcos Jr. ordered the adoption of the administration’s "Bagong Pilipinas" brand of governance and leadership campaign that reportedly calls for a deep and fundamental transformation in all sectors of society and government and fosters the government’s commitment towards the attainment of comprehensive policy reforms and full economic recovery. (Again, the same bell rings).
The PCO even released the official logo of the campaign on January 23.
Some netizens criticized the traffic advisory and the cause for its issuance (Bagong Pilipinas) on Facebook.
Manjes507 said “ano na nman pakulo ito? D na nga tumino trapik sa metro manila palalain pa nitong patutsada nato? Sino ba may pakana nito?
Aris Obedencio wrote: “Anung pinagralyhan? And Felipe Torres said previously: “to see is to believe.”
Marcos Sr. pushed for industrialization, the very same path that his son is pursuing. History is indeed repeating itself because Filipinos never bothered to read about the real history, but only the fake one that painted the glorious days of Martial Law.
