“SARA WARNED IMEE: I’LL DIG UP MARCOS SR.’ BODY” – Inquirer headline. A declaration, indeed, that a government official has said that makes a lot of sense. In fact, she added that she will dump the dictator’s remains in the West Philippine Sea.

That a Vice-President, (though illegitimate given that she was installed under an election rigging as found by the TNT trio), has declared publicly a truism that a “dictator can never be a hero” is beauty to the ears of all Filipinos of goodwill. This public outcry by VP Sara Duterte was unexpected, as it was a clear admission of an un-called for, if not an illegal decision, that her father, former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte enabled the Marcoses, to insult the Filipino people, by having their patriarch’s remains buried as a “bayani”.

In fact, the Marcoses have been trying for years now to revise and distort history by erasing the facts of atrocities committed under the Martial Law regime of their patriarch, FE Marcos, Sr.

With JPE

Clearly, Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. was in fact a traitor to the Filipino people. In violation of the Philippine Constitution in 1972, Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. forcibly arrogated to himself all powers to govern the Filipino people, in connivance with his DND secretary Juan Ponce Enrile, and at the time, the top leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine Constabulary (PC).

As dictator, FE Marcos, Sr. plundered the economy with his relatives, friends and cronies, amassed billions of ill-gotten wealth and committed all types of human rights violations – illegal arrests, tortures, imprisonment, disappearances, massacres and killings, estimated by the Human Rights Violations Memorial Commission (HRVMC) to number more than 200,000.

No Remorse

Until today, the Bongbong Marcos’ family have shown no remorse at all, denying the truth of FE Marcos’ crimes against the Filipino people, committed from 1972 up to the 1986 People Power Revolution, when they were kicked out of power, and had to settle down in Hawaii.

While the Filipino people appreciate this latest quotable statement of VP Sara Duterte, what they are wishing for is, not just words, but action.

Just like her father who lied ad nauseam, except for his dogged implementation of his brutal “war on drugs,” Sara Duterte’s words may simply remain as words. Is there hope, at any rate, that she’ll “DIG UP MARCOS SR.’S BODY”?
