Jollibee has entered into a new licensing deal that will soon bring Taiwan’s famed Milksha bubble tea into the Philippines via Chowking.

Just days after the Jollibee joint venture with Japan’s Yoshinoyo was successfully incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Jollibee Foods Corp has entered into a new licensing deal with a Taiwanese bubble tea brand.

JFC, Fresh N’ Famous Foods, Inc., and Mang Inasal Philippines, Inc. will have exclusive rights to sell and market products of Milkshop International Co., Ltd. starting with Chowking.

“We are thrilled to bring Milksha to Filipino consumers through the stores of our brands in the Philippines,” Tony Tan Caktiong, founder and chairman of JFC, said in a statement on Thursday.

Caktiong also said that Milksha will allow JFC to participate in the “fast-growing” bubble tea industry in the country.

Milkshop, also known as Milksha in Taiwan first opened in Tainan in 2004 and has grown to have over 260 outlets all over Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, China, Canada, and Japan.

“We admire JFC’s passionate commitment to delivering great tasting food at great value for money,” said Milkshop Founder and Chairman Kevin Lin.

According to the Milkshop website, the company champions natural ingredients including fresh Taiwanese dairy and multi-filtered water.

Milksha opened their first overseas store in Southeast Asia at Singapore’s Suntec City in 2018.

JFC has yet to announce when the first cups of Milksha bubble tea will be available. In the meantime, Chowking still offers its own Peal Milk Tea starting at P39.
