The Department of Science and Technology developed equipment to quickly produce the enhanced nutribun or e Nutribun, for the School Feeding Program of the Department of Education being prepared by the kitchen staff of BD Breads and Buns Bakery, a licensed manufacturer of DOST in Mandaluyong City.
This bread, used in elementary schools feeding programs in the country to combat child malnutrition, was part of USAID's Food for Peace program from 1971 to 1997, which were distributed during the time of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s martial law years and which the dictator's son plans to continue now.
