STO TOMAS City – Oh, what a way to welcome the New Year 2024!

Batangas State University (BatSU) emerged at the pinnacle of academic excellence in the CALABARZON region, receiving accolades from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office IV for its exemplary efforts in internationalization.

The university, often referred to as The National Engineering University, was honored with the prestigious title of the Most Outstanding Higher Education Institution in Internationalization during the 2023 CHED-CALABARZON Internationalization Awards.

Established in 1903, Batangas State University is strategically located in the second-largest economic region in the Philippines.

It has more than 50,000 students and close to 2,000 faculty and staff across 11 campuses thoughout the province of Batangas.

The recognition comes as a result of BatSU's dedicated endeavors to propel the internationalization of Philippine education to new heights.

Notably, the university secured multiple awards, including the Top-Performing HEI in Internationalization for Research and Innovation, the Second-Top Performing HEI in Internationalization for Academic Delivery and Instruction, and the Second-Top Performing HEI in Internationalization for Resource Generation.

One of the key factors contributing to these accomplishments is BatSU's successful inclusion in various international rankings.

The university has made significant strides by earning a place in esteemed lists such as the (1) World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), the (2) UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, and the (3) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating.

It has also acquired accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Expressing pride in these achievements, University President Tirso Ronquillo emphasized that these awards underscore BatSU's commitment to nurturing future leaders in the global knowledge economy.

"These awards are testament of the University’s continuing efforts in producing leaders in the global knowledge economy, as well as our initiatives on pushing frontiers in a borderless world," Ronquillo said.

Ronquillo further affirmed the university's dedication to enhancing the internationalization of Philippine education, pledging to continue advancing efforts and fostering a commitment to excellence on a global scale.

As BatSU basks in the glow of these accolades, it stands as a beacon of educational excellence, symbolizing the transformative power of a borderless and internationally engaged academic community.
