BATANGAS CITY — Batangueño athletes from Ala-Eh School of Karate-do, in blue uniform, shone the brightest in the 49th ISAKI Cup held recently in Tagaytay City.
Members of D’Golden Dragon Martial Arts Phickaju Karate Club, attired in black, also triumphed in the 5th Karate Pilipinas National Championship from March 1-3 at the Tagaytay Combat Sports Arena.
Proudly, last Monday, April 8, they paid a courtesy visit to Batangas City Mayor Beverley Dimacuha.
Among the distinguished athletes were Casey Trina Bobadilla, securing the gold medal in the 14- to 15-year-old girls' intermediate kata, and Weiland Magadia, earning the bronze medal in the 14- to 15-year-old boys' advanced kata. Accompanying them was their coach, Joseph Magadia.
Other notable achievers include Sofia Therese Capili, capturing gold in the 16-17-year-old girls' intermediate kata category, Leo Marvel Calumpit, clinching bronze in the Seniors +84 Kgs Kumite Male division, Steven Russel Balino, claiming bronze in the Juniors +76 Kgs Kumite Boys category, Ralph Raven Dreo, seizing bronze in the Juniors -55 Kgs Kumite Boys section, and Rhay Ann Kaye Noche, securing bronze in the 12-13-year-old Open Kata Girls division.
