Last Feb. 25 on Edsa 40th anniversary celebration instead of being with the throng in celebration of the 4-day historic event that has ousted the late Martial Law regime strongman despot Ferdinand Marcos Sr., father of the sitting president now in Malacanang Palace, I was at the clinic of my orthopedic doctor - which I will not name here in my Tumbas Manipis column - for a checkup on my irritating right back and shoulder pain that has been punishing me without mercy for a month now since I had a mild stroke last Feb. 8 and had to be hospitalized first at Mt. Carmel Gen. Hospital then for lack of available room transferred to Unihealth Hospital and Medical Center.

Anyway, after the routine check up during which he asked me about my ailing back and shoulder and after having been advised to take some pain reliever and other meds at home which he had prescribed for me last Feb. 11 on my discharge from the hospital, we fell into a casual conversation on other matters that veered into the political and economic situation of the country.

He said bluntly that the present situation of the nation is hopeless as it seems getting worse with the rampant widespread corruption about the flood control projects under the administration of PBBM, you know who he is.

He made some litanies about the kabobohan and katangahan of the multitude of Filipinos that consign them to perpetual hardship and poverty especially the bobotantes who keep on voting during elections the political candidates that turned out to be corrupt and inept public officials.

He asked me who would be the best choice for 2028 presidential election? I told him straightaway that I had no sweet feelings for the UniTeam as its unravelling was proven just less than a year of its partnership when the BBM-Sara tandem led to splitville.

He went on to say that among his relatives and circle of fellow doctors he was among a few who did not root for BBM as he voted for VP Leni in the 2022 elections. He said most of them were for BBM but he stuck his guns for Leni.

He said that BBM has no academic degree to prove he finished schooling and no society of medical practitioners would invite him to speak for them coz, “what significant or worthy stuff he is going to tell them doctors?” Unlike Leni who gets invited in many professional gatherings or events coz they know that Leni has something worthwhile to share and inspire them.

Then later on he disclosed that in 2016 he voted for Rodrigo Duterte for president but in 2022 he said he opted for VP Leni as his presidential bet coz she appears obviously more capable than BBM.

My ortho doc asked again who would be the best candidate for 2028 presidential election? He said he believes VP Sara is the much preferred candidate by the multitude of Filipinos who are mindless voters anyway that’s why she is most likely going to be the next president.

The disgruntled doctor believed PBBM is weak and is doing his lousy job so just like when he voted for the old man Duterte in 2016, he is most likely to vote for his feisty and controversial daughter in 2028 polls.

When I left the clinic of my ortho doc, I was certain he has blown his cover for who he is: DDS.
