The local government unit of Calamba City said private resorts inside the city are still not allowed to reopen despite the extension of the general community quarantine (GCQ) with “heightened restrictions” in Laguna province starting June 1.
RESORT owners in Calamba City, Laguna may have to wait a little longer before they are allowed to reopen their businesses.
This, after the local government unit of Calamba City said private resorts inside the city are still not allowed to reopen despite the extension of the general community quarantine (GCQ) with “heightened restrictions” in Laguna province starting June 1.
In a media interview, Calamba Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) Head Jeffrey Rodriguez clarified that the resorts inside the city have not yet been accredited with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The clarification came following the announcement of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) that resorts accredited by the DOT in GCQ areas can operate at 30 percent capacity starting June 1.
The LGU has a pending appeal with the IATF to allow hot spring resorts to operate on a limited capacity while following strict health guidelines.
Resort owners have met with Calamba City Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco and other tourism officials to allow them to reopen, as some of them are on the verge of bankruptcy due to the closures brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
