Resort operators in Pansol, Calamba City are puzzled after they were not allowed to resume operations although the National Capital Region Plus bubble's quarantine classification was already downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions last May 15.

A representative of resort owners and operators in Barangay Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna today said they are willing to cooperate with the national government in implementing strict health protocols should they be allowed to resume operations.

Mac Escueta, representative of resort owners and operators in Calamba City, made the remark as he once again appealed to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to allow them to go back to operations as they continue to bear the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Willing naman po kami na tulungan ang pamahalaan sa pagpapatupad ng health protocols. Ang hinihiling lang po namin, sana, tulungan kami ng gobyerno," Escueta told Catherine Go during Wednesday's episode of "OpinYon News Ngayon."

To recall, resort operators in Pansol have taken to the streets and social media to urge the government to allow them to resume operations as some of them are on the verge of going under due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Escueta added that resort operators were puzzled after they were not allowed to resume operations after the National Capital Region Plus bubble's quarantine classification was downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions last May 15.

Some resorts in the city had been allowed to open under strict limitations when the region was first placed under GCQ last year.

Escueta explained that resorts had to limit their capacity to 50 percent; only families were allowed to enter resorts, and they were obliged to submit a list of visitors to the local government unit for contact tracing purposes.

“Malaking problema na po sa amin ito, bilang pool owners and operators, dahil marami po sa amin ay mayroong mga outstanding loan sa mga bangko at marami rin pong umaasa sa amin,” he added.
