Jeongyeon was moving forward with her schedule by simultaneously taking action for recovery, because her health is the most important consideration among all others.

FOR the second time, TWICE’s Jeongyeon put a halt in her activities with the group to focus on her health.

On August 18, JYP Entertainment, TWICE’s entertainment agency, released a statement to the press and fans (ONCE) in which they announced that TWICE‘s Jeongyeon will be on hiatus to treat her anxiety and panic.

In October 2020, the artist had already taken a break from her activities for the same reason.

Jeongyeon is currently experiencing panic and psychological anxiety.

“Although Jeongyeon was moving forward with her schedule by simultaneously taking action for recovery, we value our artists’ health as the most important issue. Therefore, after deep discussions internally accompanied by professional medical measures, we have decided that it is needed for Jeongyeon to have sufficient time to focus on her recovery and rest,” the company wrote.

It was also shared by JYP Entertainment that the opinion of Jeongyeon and the members of TWICE, advice from medical professionals, and internal discussions were all taken into account.

This announcement marks Jeongyeon’s second hiatus for her mental health in less than a year.

Back in October 2020, JYP announced the singer wouldn’t be taking part in the promotions for TWICE’s second studio album, Eyes Wide Open, also because of anxiety.

Her hiatus lasted three months, and she rejoined her fellow members at the 30th Seoul Music Awards in January 2021.

Not long after the news made headlines, ONCEs immediately released their messages for Jeongyeon, wishing her the best and hoping for a swift recovery.

Following this, Jeongyeon went on TWICE's Bubble messaging app to give words of encouragement towards ONCEs.

The hashtag #WeLoveYouJeongyeon trended by the ONCEs to show Jeongyeon their support. Just hours after later, Jeongyeon took to her Bubble messaging app to send her personal message to her fans.

“ONCE I’m sorry I’ll rest well and come back with [a] healthy image and I’ll come [in] bubble frequently. Please wait for me.” Jeongyeon wrote.

TWICE will continue promoting as 8 members in the meantime and Jeongyeon will be focusing on her recovery.

In September, TWICE will release its first full English single titled “The Feels”.
