A bride in India immediately walked out of her own wedding after discovering that her groom-to-be couldn’t recite a basic mathematical formula.
YOU think mathematics is a subject that’s irrelevant to your daily life? Think again.
In India, a bride reportedly decided to cancel her wedding after the groom incorrectly answered a basic mathematics question.
The bride and the groom, who were both from Uttar Pradesh state, were supposed to be wed last May 1, through an arranged marriage.
However, the bride, who was already suspicious of her would-be husband’s educational background, asked him to recite a simple table of 2.
When he couldn’t comply, the bride didn’t think twice and immediately walked out of the wedding, saying that she could not marry someone who did not know basic math.
The bride’s cousin said the groom’s family had failed to disclose to them that he was uneducated prior to the wedding.
“The groom’s family had kept us in the dark about his education. He may not have even gone to school. The groom’s family had cheated us. But my brave sister walked out without fearing social taboo,” she was quoted as saying.
The police did not lodge a case after both parties struck a compromise on the intervention of prominent citizens of the village.
The deal entailed that the bride and groom's families return gifts and jewelry. (ONT)
