It will be interesting to see the Ravena brothers - who now belong in competing teams - take on each other, considering their difference in playing positions at Japan's B. League.

BROTHERS, teammates and now opponents in the international stage, the Ravena brothers take their rivalry to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Kiefer Ravena and Thirdy Ravena, two of the eight basketball players set to play in the Japan Professional Basketball League, are set to face off on the opening day of the 2021 B. League season Ukaru-chan Arena in Otsu, Shiga, Japan.

The brothers will play each other as Kiefer’s team Shiga Lakestars takes on his younger brother, Thirdy, and the rest of the SanEn NeoPhoenix in the B.League on a back-to-back schedule today and Sunday (October 3).

Tip-off will be at 4:05 p.m. in what is the first of two meetings between the two teams this weekend. They will battle once again on Sunday at 1:35 p.m.

Not only will this be their first game against each other, but it will also be the debut of Kiefer in the B. League.

Thirdy is considered a pioneer in the B.League for his decision to sign with San-En NeoPhoenix last year. His brother then followed as he made a controversial signing with Shiga Lakestars last June.

It will be interesting to see the brothers take on each other considering their difference in playing positions.

The older Ravena is a natural point guard and facilitator, while Thirdy is an all-rounder who can score at any given position.

The Ravena brothers are not the only Filipinos who will be playing their first games in the B.League on Saturday.

Also set for their debuts are former University of the Philippines star Kobe Paras, who will be playing for the Niigata Albirex BB against the Kyoto Hannaryz, while Javi Gomez de Liano’s Ibaraki Robots will take on the Akita Northern Happinets.

Sunday will be TNT star Bobby Ray Parks’ debut with the Nagoya Dolphins as they will face the Sun Rockers Shibuya.

The other Filipino prospects in the B.League are ex-Ateneo Blue Eagle Dwight Ramos with Toyama Grouses, Juan Gomez De Liano signed with Earth Friends Tokyo Z, and Kemark Carino with Aomori Wat’s.
