It was a treat for Filipino volleyball fans as this marked the first time that Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas were matched up in this V. League conference.

Marck Espejo got the upper hand in style beating Bryan Bagunas and Oita Miyoshi in their back-to-back duel over the weekend at the Japan V.League.

FC Tokyo finally broke the win column at the expense of Oita Miyoshi last Friday (November 5), 25-17, 25-18, 25-22, at Showa Denko Martial Arts Sports Center in Oita.

This is the first time Espejo’s team the FC Tokyo halted their six-game losing skid to start the V.League.

Espejo delivered 11 points off 7 attacks and 3 blocks to power Tokyo.

It was Norwegian import Jonas Kvalen paced FC Tokyo with 12 points behind 8 attacks, while Hideyuki Kuriyama delivered 11 points as he proved to be a formidable wall, tallying 4 blocks.

In a disappointing loss of Miyoshi, Bagunas had a very quiet game just adding 2 points for his team. Kenta Koga led Oita Miyoshi with 14 points while Kota Yamada had added 11 points.

With just barely 20 hours after the first game, FC Tokyo and Oita Miyoshi had another match-up on Saturday.

But it was another fast work for Tokyo as they demolished the Miyoshi in just three sets with 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 at the Showa Denko Martial Arts Sports Center.

This improves the record of FC Tokyo to a 2-6 card, marking their first back-to-back win in the conference.

Kvalen yet again led his team to victory with 18 points on his 16 attacks. Espejo added to their winning cause with 11 points on 8 attacks and two blocks.

Koga was also the one who carried the scoring with 11 points for Oita Miyoshi with Bagunas tallying just one point in the contest. After the back-to-back loss the Weisse Adler dropped their seventh straight match for a 1-7 card.

FC Tokyo currently ranked as seventh seed and Oita Miyoshi in the eighth seed.
