Pool trio Rubilen Amit, Carlo Biado, and Johann Chua bags 2022 Predator 10-ball World championship in Austria after settling for second place in the last two editions of the game.

The Philippines returns in the map of international billiards as the trio of Rubilen Amit, Carlo Biado, and Johann Chua defeated Great Britain’s Kelly Fisher, Jayson Shaw, and Darren Appleton, 4-3, 4-3, 4-1, to top the 2022 Predator World 10-ball Teams Championship, Sunday in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Amit started the winning streak with 4-3 win over Britain’s Fisher missed on the 3-ball in the final rack while Biado put a classic win from behind move against Shaw as he took the final two racks, 4-3.

“It feels amazing to be champions,” said the two-time 10-ball world champion Amit.
“We’re very, very happy, and very relieved. Finally, no more matches, we can rest and just enjoy it and enjoy Austria and Klagenfurt! Last time we placed second and now we are finally the champions. I am very happy that I have Johann and Carlo as my teammates because they are awesome, they are very good players.”
“Finally we made it. My job was to win in this event and with my team, and I want to thank them because we all played well. We have to celebrate now!” added Biado.

Returning for the second time, Amit teamed up with Chua in the mixed scotch doubles versus Fisher and Darren Appleton, 4-1 to complete the win in the final and then taking home the gold medal and the lion’s share of the $138,000 (P7.8 million) prize pool.

“I would like to thank Carlo and Rubilen for picking me in this event,” said Chua. “This is my first medal win from the world championships. I’m so thankful and I’m so happy that I made it with them.”

The win gave the Philippines the proper redemption and its first world team 10-ball title after finishing in second place in both 201 and 2014 editions of the tournament, the last times the tournament was staged before it was revived this year.
