Drivers using Waze can pick either the Banished War Chief Escharum or the popular Master Chief for that gruff navigation guidance and colorful commentary.
FOR a limited time, driving your car could make you feel like driving a vehicle in a video game.
Google’s navigation app Waze has partnered with Halo Infinite to launch two Halo characters as guide voices.
Drivers can pick either the Banished War Chief Escharum or the popular Master Chief for that gruff navigation guidance and colorful commentary in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
Dubbed the Halo Co-Pilot feature, the partnership brings Master Chief’s voice actor Steve Downes telling you to “turn left.”
Waze will also let drivers change their profile “mood” as Master Chief and Escharum and their car icon on the app to appear as a Warthog or Ghost, two of the vehicles in Halo.
According to Xbox, the partnership is the first video-game-themed experience for Waze.
The upcoming game is currently scheduled for a holiday 2022 release on Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
The announcement did not specify when the limited partnership will end so it’s best to try the theme out soon.
Waze has previously worked with Hollywood celebrities including Kevin Conroy for a Batman theme.
If the partnership with Halo goes well for Waze, gamers hope other popular voices from video games would come next.
For now, even non-gamer drivers can check out the Halo theme on the navigation app. Halo Infinite is seen to be one of 2021’s biggest games.
There is ongoing beta testing under the Halo Insider program that lets players test the multiplayer beta.
Of course, with the game’s popularity, leaks and rumors have been spreading ahead of the launch, only fueling more excitement on Halo players.
