Another NBA Veteran in Taiwan-bound after Jeremy Lin has announced that he signed a contract with P.League+ team Kaohsiung Steelers

After a brief stint at the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), Jeremy Lin has decided to sign with Kaohsiung Steelers, who are playing in the Taiwanese basketball league, P. League+ (PLG) as announced on Thursday, January 27.

Lin made the announcement on his social media pages with the caption “Kaohsiung, here I come!” as he is set for a homecoming after being born in the United States to Taiwanese immigrant parents.

“From the NBA, CBA and back to Taiwan, that man has become a big event in domestic basketball this year… ‘Linsanity’ is no longer far away,” the Steelers said in a Facebook post to welcome the NBA veteran as reported by Manila Bulletin.

The 34-year-old last played professionally in the CBA with Guangzhou Loong Lions club and averaged 6.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over seven games before announcing his departure and returning to the US to “rest and reset.”

Notably, Lin was fined by his own former club in December for speaking out about China's strict COVID-19 controls and not long after, announced his decision to leave as per Basket News.

Steelers will parade the nine-season NBA veteran who posted averages of 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over 480 games and played for the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and Toronto Raptors, as they referred to him as their “strongest boost,” definitely due to his experience and his caliber as an athlete.

Lin will join former NBA 2013 No. 1 pick Anthony Bennett, NBA champion Jeff Ayres, Lin’s Charlotte Hornets-turned-Kaohsiung teammate Aaron Harrison and his brother Joseph who plays for the New Taipei Kings in the P. League+.

In another pro league over in Taiwan, eight-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard also decided to take his talents overseas and signed with the Taoyuan Leopards in the Taiwanese T1 League in November.
