Jaja Santiago and the Ageo Medics sweeps the Okayama Seagulls in back-to-back matches over the weekend, with The Filipina spiker once again displaying a stellar performance.

Aego Medics completed the sweep against the Okayama Seagulls in the opening week of the Japan V.League at the Kasaoka Gymnasium in a back-to-back game last weekend.

Jaja Santiago started off hot with the Saitama Ageo Medics, winning their game opener against Okayama, 28-30, 26-24, 23-25, 25-13, 15-11, last Saturday (October 16).

Starting their title defense campaign in the right way, Ageo Medics survived the 5-set thriller game with the heroics of Yuka Sato and Santiago, combining for 57 points.

The team is hoping to have a repeat of last season’s title finish.

Santiago, who played the whole 5 sets, was able to contribute largely to the offense of Ageo Medics as she scored 17 big points, including four blocks along with 13 attacks.

Though it was the team’s ace hitter Sato who bore most of the offense as she nailed 38 kills, a block and an ace.

Adding to the scoring of Sato and Santiago is Mami Uchiseto chipped in 21 points.

It was a win from behind as the Ageo Medics had a 1-2 set deficit coming into the fourth set. Not until the scoring rampage of Sato gave a huge boost to the team from Saitama.

It was the cleaner overall game of the Okayama Seagulls which got them the 2-1 lead heading to the fourth set. In the loss, they only had 16 errors compared to the 31 of Saitama. Syuka Kaneda was their leading scorer with 28 markers.

In their second meeting in less than 24 hours, Aego Medics made short work of the Seagulls as they defeated them in straight sets 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

The Filipina spiker once again displayed a stellar performance giving her team 10 points in their second win.

Sato followed her historic performance with 11 points, while Yamagishi Tamari led the team with 14 points.

Ageo Medics will play the JT Marvelous next at Higashiyama Gymnasium on Saturday after a 2-0 record for the opening week.
