Nearly two decades after its debut, the official Pokemon Company announced the creation of the now-dubbed impossible-to-buy bike that is, true to its nature, still can’t be bought.

In 1996, Pokemon Red and Blue was released and in it is a bike worth one million Pokémon Dollars despite the game only allowing players to earn a maximum of 999,999.

On Friday (July 30), the official Pokemon Company announced the creation of the now-dubbed impossible-to-buy bike that is, true to its nature, still can’t be bought. It must be won.

The YouTube video even teased players by asking, “Do you remember that bike that everyone wanted?”

The iconic green bike with yellow rims is directly modeled from the in-game graphics and official illustrations from Pokémon Red and Blue.

Close-up shots also revealed cool details including silhouettes of a few Pokemon on the inside rim, a Poke Ball pattern on the tire tread, and Poke Balls stamped on the handles.

In honor of the official Pokémon Information Bureau/Poké Times Twitter account reaching a million followers, the bike is only available through a raffle.

Those interested should follow @poke_times and send out any tweet containing the hashtag #ポケモンの100万円じてんしゃ (translated as Pokémon 1 million-yen bicycle) before 11:59 pm on August 3.

The rules also state that the prize can only be shipped domestically in Japan. The randomly selected winner will be contacted in mid-August.

Another curveball is the fact that it isn’t a real bike. While the teaser trailer left out a few details, fans were quick to notice that the bike didn’t have a bicycle chain, the part that makes bikes go.

On the official page, the Pokemon Company clarifies that the raffle winner will be getting a “life-size model” of Pokemon’s impossible-to-buy bike. “Cannot be ridden or driven.”

Still, fans have been tweeting the raffle hashtag in hopes of winning the bike-shaped memorabilia of an in-game item that once frustrated them for being impossible-to-buy.
