With her deep and thought- provoking reply in question and answer portion, Cindy Obeñita successfully claimed the Miss Intercontinental 2021 title.

Cinderella “Cindy” Obeñita took home the Philippines' second Miss Intercontinental title earlier today at the Sunrise Diamond Beach Resort, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The newly crowned Miss Intercontinental 2021 is the 25-year old tourism officer from Cagayan de Oro.

She went head-to-head with Paulina Uceda of Mexico, who became her 1st runner up, followed by Romy Simpkins of England for 2nd runner up.

Kelly-Mary Anette of Seychelles, Kaitlyn Li from Canada, and Maria Paula Castillo Lopez from Colombia followed in the ranking.

With a total of 70 candidates vying for the title, it was during the question and answer portion that solidified Obeñita’s chances for the crown.

She was given the question of the importance of speaking in English for Miss Intercontinental which she then answered.

"As an ambassador, I don't think that speaking a specific language is very important here in Miss Intercontinental or any pageant at all. As long as that woman is a woman of power and grace, commitment, and intelligence," Obeñita said.

She went on to stress that a Miss Intercontinental winner should possess a power of substance to give hope and inspiration.

"No matter what language she speaks, and that woman is actually a woman of style and substance, then she can win any pageant or any endeavor she is into. Also, it's very important, I have learned actually here in Miss Intercontinental, that a woman should possess power of substance," she said.

Her eloquent answer is not a surprise as she also wowed the judges during the Binibining Pilipinas coronation night in July.

Cindy trended on social media following her answer in the question and answer round.

She highlighted the strength of women and said she wanted to be a woman who "comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable."

The beauty queen graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Mass Communication from Liceo de Cagayan University.

She said she has been academically multi-decorated since her elementary years.

Obeñita now holds the second Miss Intercontinental crown of the Philippines after Karen Gallman who won in 2018.
