Jordan Brand inks 20-year deal with HBCU Howard University to build more opportunities for the Black Community.

Nike Corporation and Howard University, an esteemed Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), inked a 20-year deal after the Washington DC institution’s deal with Under Armour ended over the summer break.

The partnership aims to bolster HU’s academic and athletic department and build new opportunities for recruiting and inspiring new generation talents toward their goals, for the Black Community.

“Howard University and Jordan Brand share a legacy of excellence and deep commitment to the Black Community,” says Craig Williams, Jordan Brand President. “As an HBCU graduate, I understand the educational impact an institution like Howard University has. We are proud to partner with Howard University and see the growth in Black talent on the field and well beyond it.”

HU will join North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Morehouse College as HBCUs who have partnerships with the Jordan Brand.

“We have always been proud of our legacy at Howard University, but we are audacious enough to believe our future could be brighter than our past” says Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, Howard University President.
“Partnering with Jordan Brand is another signal of our ambitions as a university to become an even brighter beacon for Black Excellence. We are thrilled to work on that vision of greatness together,”

In addition to the new partnership, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand has pledged $100M to the Black Community in the hopes to help the fight to create systemic change.

The new Jumpman uniforms will debut, previously sponsored by Under Armour apparel, this football season on Aug. 27 at Howard University’s Game Zero when the Bison take on Alabama State University.

“After winning multiple MEAC Championships last year we are poised to continue with Jordan Brand by our side,” says Kery Davis, Athletic Director for Howard University.
