With more than100 million Americans fully vaccinated, US President Joe Biden wanted schools across the United States to reopen for in-person learning by fall this year.

WITH over 100 million Americans already vaccinated against Covid-19, U.S. President Joe Biden is pushing for the full opening of schools by autumn this year.

In a media interview Friday, Biden said that “based on science and the CDC schools should probably all be open” in the fall.

"There's not overwhelming evidence that there's much of a transmission among these young people," he added.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said 101,407,318 Americans have been fully vaccinated by Friday.

"Today we reached a major milestone in the number of Americans who are fully vaccinated," White House COVID-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients said at a presser on Friday.

"Today, 100 million Americans are fully vaccinated, nearly double the 55 million who were fully vaccinated at the end of March."

COVID-19 vaccines are not available for children yet and are unlikely to be by the fall.

Earlier this month, Dr. Anthony Fauci predicted that "kids of any age" would be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine by 2022.

Many schools across the country are reopening for in-person learning, but fully reopening has become a political issue.

Many school districts do not have the funding for health measures that would reduce infection risk, and some districts aren't enforcing mask-wearing.
