Last Sunday (May 30), Rep. Ronnie Ong and Yassi Pressman visited PGH to turn over the donations they collected, including cash assistance from the Portland Trail Blazers guard, to help the affected patients.
‘DAME Time’ Damian Lillard came through with his donation for the Philippine General Hospital, which was damaged by fire last May 16.
Actress Yassi Pressman’s donation drive received the donation from Lillard.
“Huuuuuge thanks to big brother @DamianLillard for sending over such a generous amount, kahit na wala siya sa Pilipinas, just to be able to help,” wrote Pressman on the tail finish of an Instagram submit on May 29, as she expressed gratitude to everybody who helped out her donation drive which she arranged by way of her social media pages.

“PGH needs our help to buy new equipment and repair their building structures. But what’s most important is that no lives were lost. Hanga talaga tayo sa galing at tapang ng health workers natin na nagligtas sa mga pasyente lalo na sa NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) babies,” said Ong in a statement.
Reportedly, Pressman was able to raise over P1 million from her donation drive, which she has already turned over to PGH in Manila.
Meanwhile, Lillard, one of the most outspoken NBA stars when it comes to social issues, together with the Portland Trail Blazers, is battling the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs.
The Portland point guard has already visited the Philippines twice. The first time was in 2014 when he played in an exhibition game with the NBA, and second in 2016 during the promotional tour of his signature shoe.
The six-time All-Star has also been one of the leading voices in the NBA when it comes to taking action in helping society.
“Being somebody that uses my platform and has actually been out there literally marching, you look around and just think. I’m not sure exactly what to do going forward, but I think whatever it is, it has to be with action,” said Lillard in an interview with The Undefeated last January. (NP)
