BTS, Pororo, and Korean Hangul will be included in the set of 23 commemorative stamps which will be issued by the Korea Post in early 2023.

To cap off BTS’ hugely successful year, the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Korea Post announced that a set of 23 special edition stamps will be produced to commemorate the year 2023 featuring the biggest South Korean boy group.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, Korea Post releases a set of national stamps featuring key figures, events, and monuments to look back on the recent year.

The band will be on one of 23 stamps to be issued in the first half of next year with the theme “Record of Youth,” but the band’s label Hybe has yet to finalize the design of the stamp.

“BTS is evaluated as a representative pop icon of the 21st century who conveys hope and comfort to the world through lyrics," Korea Post said through a press statement.

In an article published by Web News Observer, the stamp issuance plan is reportedly deliberated and selected by an official group called the Stamp Issuance Deliberation Committee, made up of university professors and other intellectual experts.

BTS will join the group of featured iconic figures and designs like Pororo, Korea’s beloved animated penguin, and the Korean alphabet hangul, which are also set to appear in the set.

“Postage stamps are a means to represent our country’s precious culture, beyond their meanings as proof of payment,” said Son Seung-hyun, president of Korea Post. “We will continue to make active efforts to publicize the culture that represents Korea through such commemorative stamps.”

ARMYs, the official fandom name of BTS’ fans, will surely look forward to these stamps after the group announced their indefinite hiatus following the enlistment of their group’s oldest member, Jin, in the military, to be followed by SUGA who is said to be rendering in the near future as social service agent.

The band is set to reunite as a whole again sometime in 2025 as they figure out their solo careers and their responsibilities as citizens of South Korea.
