The first episode aimed to convey common skills and knowledge about wearing condoms, but the new episode is tackling one very specific issue: unplanned pregnancies.

Anime is a style of cartoon series that was popularized by Japan. They have been known to produce legendary anime series that continue to be remade and reissued for decades.

It’s not surprising, therefore, that they use anime as a teaching tool to promote even safe sex.

In 2020, Okamoto Industries, the Japanese company best known for making condoms, came up with a new anime series centering around condoms.

Dubbed Condom Battler Goro, this Pokémon, Dragonball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh! mashup follows the story of 24-year-old Goro, who teams up with his friends to spread the word to the masses about the importance of wearing these rubberized contraceptives.

The first episode aimed to convey common skills and knowledge about wearing condoms, but the new episode is tackling one very specific issue: unplanned pregnancies.

The easy-to-understand story explains that people shouldn’t be embarrassed to ask for or wear a condom and that the prejudice surrounding such a thing is completely false.

Though it was slated for 56 episodes, Condom Battler Goro only managed to release 4 episodes last year. But just a few days ago, Okamoto announced the anime’s revival for another season.

A press release announced that the Okamoto Labs Research Institute has launched the animation project Condom Battler Gorou: Revive, as part of a larger project to spread the use of the male condom among the Japanese.

"’Condom Battler Gorou: Revive’ Is the sequel to ‘Condom Battler Gorou’, which debuted in 2020 and has had more than 700,000 views on YouTube. While the character designs and visual effects of the previous animation were inspired by anime from the 90s, this new series, set five years and six months later, has a more realistic and contemporary air,” according to a press release by Okamoto.

This new “Revival” displays updated graphics with an updated theme.

Now, five years into the future, and at the age of 30, Goro must do battle against a new threat while keeping everyone around him safe.
