Ph Allies Join Hands Over WPS Issue

After being paralyzed for so long by the pandemic, China is showing that it is catching up for lost time with its  aggressiveness and provocativeness not only in the United States through its spy balloons but also in the West Philippine Sea—which it claims to own by virtue of a fictional nine-dash line—by training its military-grade (blinding) laser at the Philippine Coast Guard vessel which was unloading supplies to another vessel at the Ayungin Shoal.

The Marcos administration was asked to declare the West Philippine Sea as a national marine protected area or specifically as a “protected seascape through existing instruments and mechanisms” by the World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines.

The first Balikatan drill will be held on April 11 to 28 near Panatag Shoal involving the sinking of an old boat. The drill will involve 12,000 American soldiers and 5,000 Filipino troops and hundreds from Australia while other like-minded countries would be sending observers.
