I vividly remember when Le Chazz—a popular stand-up comedian and TV personality—was a performer in my national nutrition campaign in the early 2010s when shuttling by van from Catbalogan City in Samar to Tacloban City in Leyte, he would describe the lowly life he had in Samar so he strove hard to uplift his whole family’s economic life.

Until he became a famous bar comic, a television and film star because of his extraordinary talents, he made his life better.

But the enormous popularity Le Chazz enjoys had been cut short by his death when he was infected with COVID-19.

It was entertainment writer Jobert Sucaldito who announced the passing of Le Chazz, Richard Vargas Yuzon.

“Goodbye, anak (child—a gay term for a surrogate or protégée). Safe journey,” said Jobert.
