Three die in car accident in Tanauan, Leyte

An SUV traversing the National Highway in Barangay Sto. Nino, Tanauan, Leyte suddenly had a blown tire, causing it to crash into a group of people at a waiting shed.

Three persons, including a senior citizen and two minors, were killed after a car crashed into them along the National Highway in Tanauan, Leyte.

Two of the fatalities were identified as Regine Garcia, 15 and Piolo Garcia, 14.

Two other people, who are unidentified as of press time, were also reported to be in critical condition.

According to police reports, the SUV, which was being driven by Atty. Racquel Kho of Arteche, Samar, was traversing the National Highway when, upon reaching a curve in Barangay Sto. Nino, one of the vehicle’s tires blew out.

Kho reportedly lost control of the SUV, causing it to crash into a group of people standing under a waiting shed along the highway.

Tanauan municipal police now have Kho under custody, while charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries and damage to property are being prepared against her.
