More than a year after a devastating fire, Robinsons’ Tacloban is once again ready to serve shoppers in Eastern Visayas.
While the opening signifies more job opportunities as 183 stores open it arms for potential applicants, displaced employees have also been given the assurance of being prioritized for reinstatement.
A BIGGER and better Robinson’s Mall –Tacloban has reopened after more than a year of being closed for renovation and improvement following a devastating fire that badly destroyed the establishment.
The developers made a makeover of the mall and shoppers will be seeing a “bigger and better” interior design as well as a safer and “more eco-friendly” environment.
Robinson’s Land Corporation’s Commercial Center Division Senior Vice President and General Manager Arlene Magtibay, said they spent the past year totally renovating the mall as well as improving the interior itself.
As a result, the mall will feature brighter lights in addition to the sun’s natural lighting that illumine the mall’s interior which highlights the contemporary ceiling design and floor patterns.
Work opportunities
While the opening signifies more job opportunities as 183 stores open it arms for potential applicants, displaced employees have also been given the assurance of being prioritized for reinstatement.
The mall alone, considered the largest in Eastern Visayas, initially will generate employment for up to 500 workers.
This is on top of the mall’s effective stirring and rousing presence to other business opportunities and players in the area that will directly and indirectly benefit from its operations.
The mall had previously employed over a thousand workers before the devastating fire which destroyed 60 percent of the mall in October 2019.
Safety First
As the mall opened at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Magtibay assured patrons that Robinsons’ Tacloban will strictly follow the minimum health protocols.
Shoppers’ temperatures are checked prior to entering, wearing of face masks and face shields will be mandatory, and stores and restaurants will operate at the minimum capacity required.
Despite the last minute repairs, the management assures the public that they are “super ready” to finally accommodate and serve the public once more.
Beaten Hard Twice
The mall’s unbowed will to rise and live again symbolizes its knack for resilience from the twin major disasters it had suffered. First during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013, and second, the unfortunate fire that hit it on October 23, 2019.
This sprawling mall located in Marasbaras Tacloban has a total floor area of 65,500 including its annex building that opened in 2011 and the three-story expansion wing launched in 2016. (JKA)
