As a sportsman (he is a basketball player, a golfer, a fencing enthusiast, etc.) Richard Gomez, the actor and Mayor of Ormoc City has been in most of the sports events in and outside show business. Even if he became a mayor, Richard doesn’t give up his sporty ways.

During day-offs from official functions as head of the city, Gomez sees to it to sweat it out for sportsmanship, wellness, and health.

Before the city celebrated Halloween and observed All Saints Day and All Souls Day with the corresponding calls for protocols like wearing masks and face shields, spraying alcohol and sanitizer especially on hands, and maintaining social distancing, Goma joined the baseball competition in his turf for camaraderie and setting a good example of leadership, particularly, in sports development.

In his Instagram, aside from cooking, baking, and concocting menus, Chard took time out to show to his constituents how enthusiastic he was in athletics.

It was nighttime, but the mayor didn’t mince words to join the cordial if not casual playoff.

“Evening slow-pitch softball competition at the Ormoc Track &Field Oval. It was a nice way to sweat,” he noted.

Make no mistakes as to sport what Richard is into at a particular time because he has several of them.

He’s also into target shooting. Aside from the usual sports like basketball or marathon, Goma said he’s into trap shooting.

During the reign of the Star Olympics, a yearly sports activity of all the members and officers of the Kapisanan ng mga Artista ng Pelikulang Pilipino at Telebisyon (KAPPT) or Actors Guild, Goma was one of the most active showbiz denizens who attended and competed in many sports events of the group.
