A suspected leader of a private armed group was nabbed by authorities in Calbayog City last June 30.
The Calbayog City Police has arrested a suspected leader of a private armed group in Calbayog City, Samar last June 30.
Police identified the suspect as Jose Palioc Taneo alias "Osik," 47 years old and resident of Barangay Tigbe in this city.
A report by the Calbayog City Police stated that Taneo was pinpointed as the leader of the Taneo private armed group that operates in the city's Upper Valley Area.
He is alsohead of one of the active armed gangs that operatedin the townduring the past elections.
Arrest warrants against Taneo were served by the PNP for three counts of robbery with homicide and frustrated murder cases.
However, no firearms or any contraband were confiscated or taken from the possession of Taneo during the arrest procedures as confirmed by investigator PCpl. Hajji Nacinopa.
Lieutenant Colonel Rodolfo Albotra Jr., chief of the Calbayog City Police, said his command will continue to track down and arrest the other identified members of PAGs in the city. (JKA)
