More works to be done; EV sets new record high for Covid-19 cases

Tacloban City posted the highest number of additional Covid-19 cases in Eastern Visayas with 44 cases, while Ormoc City registered 32 additional cases; Palo, Leyte 28 cases; and Maasin, Southern Leyte 21 cases.

THE Department of Health- Eastern Visayas accounted today (June 3) a record high of new Covid-19 at 276, placing the region’s total number of cases at 21,452.

However, recovery remains considerably high at 91.99 percent, while fatality rates stayed 1.51 percent.

To date, total active cases in the region numbered around 1,395 or 6.50 percent.

Tacloban City posted the highest number of additional Covid-19 cases with 44 cases, while Ormoc City registered 32 additional cases; Palo, Leyte 28 cases; and Maasin, Southern Leyte 21 cases.

DOH also recorded a double-digit increase in Borongan City, Eastern Samar, with 12 cases.

Meanwhile, Naval, Biliran posted 14 additional Covid-19 cases.

Full bed capacity

To date, the Eastern Visayas Regional medical center (EVRMC) in Tacloban City has now reached full bed capacity due to the recent increase in Covid-19 cases.

Local officials of the said LGUs expressed confidence that the Covid-19 situation in their respective municipalities will remain under control.
