The Department of Tourism (DOT) Eastern Visayas is set to host the prestigious Central Philippines Tourism Expo (CPTex) in 2025, marking its first time to serve as the event’s host region.
Scheduled from June 20 to 22 at Robinsons Place Marasbaras in Tacloban City, the three-day expo is expected to draw over 200 participants from various parts of the Philippines, including Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and of course, Eastern Visayas itself.
CPTex is one of the DOT’s flagship tourism events, designed to serve as a dynamic platform for showcasing regional destinations, products, packages, and services. This year’s event aims to promote the diverse tourism offerings of the participating regions, fostering business opportunities and collaborations among tourism stakeholders.
DOT Eastern Visayas Director Karina Rosa Tiopes expressed her enthusiasm about hosting the event, emphasizing its significance for regional development.
“This will highlight the various tourism products from these regions and will be introduced to the tourism market in various parts of the Philippines,” Tiopes said in an interview.
She noted that Eastern Visayas is eager to leverage this opportunity to boost local tourism and forge new business relationships.
The expo will also feature a familiarization tour for tour operators who may not yet be acquainted with the region’s attractions, programs, and destinations.
This initiative aims to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Eastern Visayas’ rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes, enabling them to better promote the area to travelers.
Each of the six provinces in Eastern Visayas will set up its own booth during the event, showcasing their unique tourist spots and attractions.
Tour operators and visitors alike will have the chance to explore and sell these destinations, positioning Eastern Visayas as a vibrant and market-ready tourism hub.
This event underscores the region’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices that protect and preserve the natural beauty and cultural treasures of Eastern Visayas.
By bringing together key industry players, CPTex 2025 aims to foster responsible tourism that benefits local communities while offering memorable experiences to visitors.
With the successful hosting of CPTex in Iloilo in 2023 and Puerto Princesa in 2024, Eastern Visayas’s turn to showcase its scenic landscapes, historical sites, and vibrant culture is highly anticipated.
The event promises to be a significant milestone in the region’s tourism development, opening new avenues for growth and cooperation across the Philippine tourism industry.
As the region prepares to welcome participants from across the country, the 2025 CPTex in Eastern Visayas is poised to elevate the region’s profile as a must-visit destination, reaffirming its position as a key player in the Philippines’ thriving tourism sector. (with reports from PNA)
