The lack of consistency in climate action in Eastern Visayas is a major concern for the region's future. While there have been some positive initiatives taken by the local government and communities, there is still a long way to go in terms of implementing effective and sustainable measures to address climate change.

One of the main issues is the lack of funding and resources for climate adaptation and mitigation projects. Despite being one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change, Eastern Visayas has not received enough support from national and international agencies to implement large-scale projects. This has led to a situation where many small-scale initiatives have been implemented, but they have not had a significant impact on the overall resilience of the region.

Another challenge is the lack of coordination between different stakeholders, including local governments, non-governmental organizations, and communities. While each group has its own initiatives and programs, there is little collaboration or integration between them. This has resulted in duplication of efforts and a lack of synergy in addressing climate change issues.

Moreover, there is a need for greater awareness and education among communities about climate change and its impacts. Many people still do not fully understand the risks posed by sea-level rise, typhoons, droughts, and other climate-related disasters. This lack of awareness has led to poor decision-making and inadequate preparation for emergencies.

To address these challenges, there are several steps that can be taken. One is to increase funding and resources for climate adaptation and mitigation projects in Eastern Visayas. This can be done through partnerships with national and international agencies, as well as through innovative financing mechanisms such as green bonds and climate finance funds.

Second is to foster greater coordination and collaboration among stakeholders. This can be achieved through regular meetings, joint planning processes, and shared monitoring and evaluation systems.

Third is to improve awareness and education about climate change among communities through targeted communication strategies, community-based learning programs, and participatory decision-making processes.

Strengthening institutional capacities for climate action will also help by providing training and support to local government officials, NGO staff, and community leaders on climate adaptation and mitigation measures.

Promoting private sector engagement in climate action by encouraging investment in low-carbon technologies, green jobs creation, and sustainable supply chain practices is also important.

By taking these steps, Eastern Visayas can move towards a more consistent and effective approach to climate action that prioritizes resilience, sustainability, and equity for all communities in the region.
