Dead sea turtle washed ashore in Calbayog

Experts believe that the southwest monsoon and strong waves caused the death of the animal.

Residents and fishermen discovered the body of a sea turtle that washed ashore in Calbayog City, Samar Monday (July 26).

According to witnesses, the dead sea turtle was discovered along the shore of Barangay Carayman at about 5:00 p.m.

The sea turtle measured almost two meters long and weighed almost 150 kilos, according to local environmental officials.

Experts believe that the southwest monsoon and strong waves caused the death of the animal.

Earlier, another sea turtle was discovered in the same area; however, it was not known whether it managed to get back to the sea safely. (JKA)
