Farmers in Samar province gathered together for a five-day "Tabo in the City: Pamerkado" organized by the provincial government as part of its efforts to assist the province's agriculture sector.

As part of its programs to support local farmers, the provincial government of Samar Province launched a “pop-up farmer’s market” in Catbalogan City.

The “Tabo in the City: Pamerkado,” which was held at the city’s Imelda Park from April 28 to May 2, brought together farmers from different parts of the province into a trading center where they can sell or trade their produce.

“Tabo” in Waray means a weekly gathering of local traders.

According to Samar Governor Michael Tan, total sales reached P545,574 during the five-day market.

Tan added that the local farmers were delighted to have all their products sold and the consumers as well were more that satisfied as they were able to purchase fresh and quality goods straight from the farms at a low cost.

The “Tabo in the City” is part of the Samar provincial government’s “Greenlihood Program” for the province’s agriculture sector. (JKA)
