A local disaster risk reduction office in Northern Samar has earned the ire from netizens after hosting a team-building activity inside a private resort despite the continuing restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
OFFICIALS and members of the Catarman, Northern Samar’s municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO) are in hot water for allegedly hosting a team-building activity inside a private resort amid the continuing restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The team-building activity, which was conducted at the Villa Patria Resort in Bani Island, Lavezares, Northern Samar last May 14, has drawn flak from netizens after the pictures of the event circulated online.
This, despite the ban on mass gathering events implemented by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, even as the province of Northern Samar is now under a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until May 31.
Some officials of the Catarman MDRRMO defended their actions, saying that their staff who attended the team-building activity were all vaccinated against Covid-19 and the facilitators came from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Northern Samar Provincial Health Office.
The Catarman MDRRMO and the local government have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. (JKA)
