Barangay Calingatngatan in Borongan City, Eastern Samar has been placed under a lockdown from June 1 to 14 following reports that a certain traveler from outside the city who visited the area tested positive for the virus.

HEALTH authorities in Borongan City have placed a barangay under lockdown for two weeks after a visitor contracted Covid-19.

According to City Mayor Jose Dayan Agda, Barangay Calingatngatan has been placed under a lockdown from June 1 to 14 following reports that a certain traveler from outside Borongan City who visited the area tested positive for the virus.

The City Health Office is now conducting mass testing among the unidentified visitor’s close contacts, prompting the lockdown.

At present, only essential travel is allowed going in and out of the barangay.

Meanwhile, Agda warned residents to travel only when necessary to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 inside the city. (Joyce Kahano-Alpino)
