Two barangay officials were arrested by authorities for suspected drug dealing in Eastern Visayas in separate operations.
AT least two barangay officials were nabbed in two separate drug buy-bust operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas.
In Lavezares, Northern Samar, Barangay Okad councilor and former chairman Van Paolo Ayes was arrested in a drug sting conducted in Sitio Sigad in this barangay.
PDEA-Region 8 Information Officer Rogellete Urgel said Ayes has been under “close monitoring” by authorities due to suspected illegal drug dealing activities.
Authorities recovered from his possession sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P2, 600.
Meanwhile, in Tacloban City, a barangay tanod was also arrested in an operation in Barangay 105, Guadalupe Heights.
The unidentified suspect was caught with sachets of suspected shabu worth P30,000, as well as a two 12 GA Winchester ammunition, a .45-mm ammunition, and a .357 ammunition. (JKA)
