The victims were on their way to a farm in Barangay Guinabonan when the vehicle’s engine suddenly stopped, causing the vehicle to go into reverse before plunging into a 20-meter cliff.
ONE person was confirmed dead and 17 others were injured after a multi-cab fell off a cliff in Malitbog, Southern Leyte Tuesday (July 20).
The lone fatality was identified as Alberto Payac, the driver of the vehicle and a resident of Matalom, Leyte.
According to police reports, the victims were on their way to a farm in Barangay Guinabonan when the engine’s vehicle suddenly stopped, causing it to go into reverse and before plunging into the 20-meter ravine in Barangay Sangahon.
Most of the passengers, who were employees of the local government of Matalom town, were rushed to the Living Hope Hospital in Maasin City, Sogod District Hospital and Christ the Healer Hospital for immediate medical attention.
