Why go to Maldives? An island resort offers a view to the big chill!

All the right elements of a tropical paradise, the Sunlight Hotels and Resorts have it. And Palawan is the high-end address, bar none!

We have three Sunlight properties: one in Coron (Sunlight Guest Hotel Coron-Business and Leisure Hotel), one in Culion Sunlight Eco-Tourism Island Resort or SETIR Luxury Resort), and one in Puerto Princesa (Sunlight Guest Hotel Puerto Princesa-Business Hotel), informed Director of Sales Teody Espallardo.

Of all the Sunlight properties, the 18-hectare pure Edenic bliss SETIR stands out among their best properties, Espallardo remarked. Aside from the unspoilt natural beauty, it boasts of diverse marine gems while offering topnotch dining and consummate Filipino sociability.

“SETIR is rich in natural resources and biodiversity. With a strategic design, 360-degree view of the Calamian group of islands, our well-appointed Maldives-esque villas are perched above the pristine blue waters. All villas have a balcony that overlooks the vast view of the ocean from sunrise to sunset,” gushed Espallardo.

Do you love being at sea, especially on a sweltering summer season? SETIR fits the bill. Just simply watching the pristine sea from dawn’s foamy crystal clear water turning aquamarine to teal blue at high noon and the light to dark jade green and silvery froths at dusk – simply breathtaking and uber relaxing.

The expansive waters all the more makes it so inviting to engage in all kinds of aqua sports activities especially diving to visit the underground blue museum featuring a host of marine fauna like dolphins, green turtles, seahorses, sea cows (dugong), clownfish, and more than you can imagine!

As if beach sports, non-motorized and motorized water sports and diving isn’t enough to get one all worked up, guests can hit the fully-equipped gym or indulge in the soothing Sunlight spa services like massages, nails, facials and body treatments aided by expert therapists using only high-quality products for such a rejuvenating experience.

Except for the exclusively plush SETIR, the two other Sunlight properties are suitably located for island-hopping, shopping spree or explore interesting spots around the area.

For instance, the business and leisure Sunlight Hotel in Puerto Princesa offer guests an easy access to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Underground River. Afterwards, guests can gear up for a gastronomic trip of local, international especially fresh seafood within the vicinity.

Espallardo said that Sunlight guests are made up of 40 percent international and 60 percent local influx. Aside from locals, their top four frequent visitors are Chinese, American, Australian and British nationals.

Trade-wise, the Sunlight properties have taken part in the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tourism Promotion Board (TPB) trade shows. “We also have local and international wholesaler partners and we tap social media in all platforms to reach out to all here and abroad,” Espallardo added.

Sans a Global Distribution System (GDS), Sunlight properties rely on a Channel Manager and booking engine to boost their properties’ performance client-wise. As for this and next year’s travel trends, Espallardo said it will still be leisure for couple, small group, business and social events that will steadily pick up.

A mission of the Sunlight properties’ management, “Is to deliver exceptional experiences to guests, while also being mindful of our impact on the environment. With sustainability at core we try to minimize our carbon footprint with eco-friendly practices in our daily operations.”

To provide the ultimate escape destination for travelers trying to break from the monotony of the daily grind, the Sunlight properties’ management strive to be a refuge where guests can have the quality me-time, bond with their loved ones and be in touch with nature while indulging in a plethora of adventure, relaxation and comfort.

For a relaxing stay, guests can choose from different accommodations; like the cluster villa single (1 bed), cluster villa double (2 single beds), studio single villa (1 queen bed), one-bedroom villa (1 queen bed), duplex villa (1 queen bed and 2 single beds), two-bedroom villa (1 queen bed and 2 single beds), Sirakan villa, a 65 square meter abode with private ocean-view balcony, outdoor Jacuzzi and glass bottom floor.

A seasoned hotelier for 23 years and counting, Espallardo shared his aspirations, “I have been a Director of Sales (Grand Boulevard and Manila Hotel) and in a destination (Boracay), the passion and love for my job to achieve my target, visibility in the travel and trade association, and most of all to maintain a strong relationship in the marketplace.”
