Several weeks already, we are getting entertained by our political leaders, enough for us to forget most are starving as thousands of lower middle class families are pushed to the food poor class. The basket that used to be full with two thousand pesos in the grocery now comes out from the grocery half full or half empty. In all these bickering about Charter change, who is minding the store?

Mainstream media and worse, social media, are all too loud about this PI. To our political leaders PI means Peoples’ Initiative. To me and my likes, it means, “Put…In… niyo, hindi na naming maabot ang presyo ng bilihin, wala pa kami pambili.”

Many of my friends make fun of this word war among our political leaders, “ang pinakasinungaling will win”.

But most of my buddies in the advocacy world are not laughing. Serious investors who create the jobs are disturbed at best, or are packing up at worse.

Really the joke is on us.

I’ve read this in one of my collections, how shit came about.

In the beginning was the Plan.

And then came the Assumptions. And the Assumptions were without form. And the Plan was without substance. And darkness was upon the face of the Workers.

And the Workers spoke among themselves, saying, “It is a crock of shit, and it stinks.”

And the Workers went to their Supervisors and said, “It is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odor thereof.”

And the Supervisors went to the Managers, saying, “It is a container of excrement and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it.”

And the Managers went to the Directors, saying, “It is vessel of fertilizers , and none may abide by its strength.”

And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another, “It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very powerful.”

And the Vice President went to the President, saying, “This new Plan will actively promote growth and vigor to the company with powerful effects.”

And the President looked upon the Plan and believed his officers that it was good.

And the Plan became policy.

This is how shit turned out.

Guess what happened to the company?

In the last days, God calls on Speaker Martin Romualdez, Pres. Duterte, and Manny V. Pangilinan.

God tells the three, “The world will end in 60 days, go back and tell your people.”

Speaker Martin goes on TV and social media and tells the Filipinos, “I have good news and bad news. The good news is the Charter change I am supporting will come to pass in 40 days. The bad news is, there will be no need for that as the world will end in 60 days.”

PRRD goes to Davao City telling his people, “I have bad news and worse news. The bad news is I was wrong. There is God. The worse news is the world will end in 60 days.”

MVP calls his top management team, telling them, “ I have great news and fabulous news. The good news is God talked to me and gave me an assignment. He thinks I’m important. The fabulous news is we have no more need for TV5.
