Wala man lang ginawa?

A month or so ago, I raised in this column concerns regarding the growing cracks on the pavement at the southern approach of the San Pedro City Bridge.

To recall, photos shared with us by my personal driver showed large cracks on the sidewalk, causing parts of the sidewalk to almost cave in.

About the time I wrote that column piece, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) started repaving works on the southern approach of the bridge – a month or so after the northern side of the bridge was also repaved.

Much to my surprise, the pavement along the southern approach was left untouched by the contractors who did the repaving job.

And now, after heavy rains that pounded Laguna province, it’s clear that the problem of the cracking and caving pavement is getting worse and worse (I pass that area everyday on my way to work and back home, so trust me, I know what I’m talking about.)

Are we going to wait for the pavement to collapse, or for a pedestrian to trip on the cracks, before we take action on the issue?!

Duterte die-hard supporters (DDS) are too damn funny. They think they're now the "legitimate" opposition (and not the people they all lump as “komonesta” and “dilawan”) and are on an all-out attack against the Marcos administration, now that the “UniTeam” has been broken.

(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

We can see through your BS, DDS. You’re positioning yourself as the opposition not because of a genuine love for the country, nor of a genuine desire to uplift the lives of every Filipino. Nag-oposisyon lang kayo para maibalik ang poder (at pera) na inalis ng mga Marcos mula sa mga Duterte.

Tama nga ang naging hinuha ko noon sa column na ito: the biggest mistake the Dutertes made were allying themselves with the Marcoses in 2022, thinking not only that they could beat the rising anger and frustration of those who rallied behind Leni Robredo but that they could use the Marcoses (and some Filipinos’ continuing cult-like worshipping of the Marcos family) to retain their grip in power.

E anong napala nila ngayon? Turns out may sariling isip pala ang mga Marcos – and they’re not afraid to dump political allies if they’re no longer useful to them. And the Dutertes, with growing evidence that they’re all but willing to hand over our country and our sovereignty to a foreign power in exchange for retaining their grip in politics (possibly forever?) had become a big, big liability for the Marcoses and the country in general.

Here's a bitter truth in politics, by the way: the same public who worships a god will often take perverse pleasure in kicking a fallen idol.
