The opposition’s division VS. BBM’s unity

Should the widening lead of the BBM-Sara UniTeam in recent surveys continue, the opposition stands little to no chance in the coming May 9 presidential contest.

They will eat the dust of their unbridled selfish ambition to become presidents.

Unlike the growing BBM-Sara’s almost banal sounding UNITY pitch, the opposition’s deliberate disregard to it is further eroding whatever little chances they have.

But the painful truth is because theirs is almost a predictable, hence, reversible apparent loss they could otherwise avoid if only they would learn from the BBM unity rhetoric.

But should their loss be inevitable, all the blame must be attributed to their inability to figure out the winning political stroke – UNITY.

Their stubborn refusal and inability to rally a strong unified force, which of course will cost them their respective presidential dream, will certainly cost them needless painful defeat.

Isko is correct when he said ‘BBM is the common enemy.’ But Leny’s camp however, as well as that of Lacson and good-hearted Senator Manny Pacquiao wouldn’t want to acknowledge that.

Despite the glaring signs of a BBM-Sara ticket win, it is ridiculous how they all thought they’re winning when surveys clearly tell otherwise.

Not even the more aggressive ticket of the liberal Pinklawans, or so they are notoriously named, come anywhere close to the most recent Pulse Asia and SWS surveys, where BBM maintained and further widened a commanding lead.

The only chance left for the opposition, if they are going to decidedly reverse the BBM-Sara sustained rise is to copy and follow its demonstration of unity, however superficial.

With the commanding lead BBM now enjoys, not even the combined numbers of the other 4 candidates will effectively upset BBM ‘s lead.

The need and call for the opposition to come together as one united force, and come up with one strong common presidential bet is their only option left I see. That is, if they are going to beat junior Marcos.

But of course, they would frown the banal, almost corny sounding call. After all, they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with the winning political wisdom Marcos has managed to rally and demonstrate.

So yes, the losing respective campaigns of Lacson, Leny, Isko and Manny, as well as the almost ridiculous shots of Ka Leody de Gusman, Gonzales and Abella in the presidential fray, if can only be drawn together as one united force, maybe a BBM upset is still possible.

With their respective campaigns now in full swing, I could only surmise of a remote chance for such a unity to take place.

Their audacious, almost discernible crave for the presidential seat have made them all bitter rivals, making them incapable to rally as one united force.

Unlike Sara Duterte who inarguably had all the advantage to win the presidential contest had she sought the post, I doubt if any in the likes of Lacson, Leny, Isko, Manny, Ka Leody, Gonzales, Abello and Montemayor would have the same courage to sacrifice a political ambition for the sake of unity, even if it just means a political victory.
