Providential interruptions

WE are doomed to another failing if, by any chance, this nation is bereft of divine meddling.

God forbid we are a people omitted in the radar of divine providence. If in the conduct of our national affairs, and the choosing of our leaders, the Heavens will leave us on our own, nothing much of divine measure must be expected. Yet a providential leadership is what this nation badly needs.

That is not to say that it will and must be one a godly leadership. To know that we are still a nation guided and led by God in our affairs is enough. How that transpires in God’s economy is the least of my concern. The dynamics of divine involvement are still beyond man’s understanding to grasp.

If God’s people in this nation still enjoy his favor, because their cries are cries of them that mediate the damned and the lost, then dawn may be forthcoming. Grant that the election of our leader next year would be a consequence of the divine prodding, and never a solitary achievement of a person who has distanced from the dimension of the divine. It is important that God’s people remain in the loop of God’s purposes, and that their chief occupation remains consistent with his will.

But profoundly still, the human person can be moved. Electors can be influenced. Voters can better still allow conscience to dictate them of their decisions to elect one of their careful choosing. That is why the moral climate of the people and their aptitude on the things of God remains critical. Let us hope that regardless of who that be that will make it to the presidency, his/her election is solely not just a result of the pervading culture of peoples, whatever that is, but also a consequence of conscience’ strong prodding.

Even then, hope is never lost yet. I am persuaded that providential occurrence amidst the chaos of human processes is not restricted by the outcome of politics. God can work in mysterious ways. In fact, the scriptures would tell of divine moves disrupting the affairs of men. He is still the God of the impossible.

The claims of Christianity are an epic narrative to that effect. Except for the minor believing Jews waiting for the Savior, the unpublished birth of Jesus Christ in Galilee was an interruption the world never has expected. Except for the heralding by prophets of old, the world never saw his coming. But you will agree with me that the interruption has forever changed the course of the world.

So yes, I am a believer in providential interruptions.
